Literacy Partners- help a child learn to read!

This month at Highpoint, we are focusing on the Literacy Partners Program, which is a joint effort between churches in our community, to help make a difference in the academic outcomes for elementary-aged children. Research shows that children not reading at grade level by the end of 3rd grade are four times more likely to drop out of school!  A literacy partner is someone who makes a 30 minute commitment each week to listen to and read with a child in 1st or 2nd grade who may need some extra help.  Highpoint is happy to partner with Giddens Elementary School, located in the Carriage Hills area, to provide these services.

Would you like to be a Literacy Partner?  If you have 30 minutes per week to dedicate to this important project, please email our volunteer lead:  Ellen Romer, at Let’s work together to make a difference in our community, and in the lives of these precious children!
